This is a characteristic of the gene complex and not a health defect. The animals we select for sale show minimal to no visible symptoms.
What setup do you recommend?
We recommend a 10-20 gallon enclosure for a juvenile, with a secure lid, a humidity hide, a water bowl, and appropriate heating (UTH with thermostat) to create a thermal gradient of 88-92°F on the warm side and 78-80°F on the cool side. Aspen or coconut husk substrate works well.
When will it be ready to breed?
Ball pythons typically reach breeding size and maturity at 3-4 years of age, at a weight of 1200-1500 grams for females and 700-800 grams for males. This juvenile has significant growth ahead before breeding consideration.
